BiographyHarriet was born five weeks early after she stopped moving in the womb. She was born extremely ill with hardly any blood in her body. Following five weeks in special care with some moments where it was touch and go, Harriet came home for the first time. At five weeks old, she was confirmed as profoundly deaf and fitted with her first hearing aids at 8 weeks old. Over the next few months we gradually saw her personality develop and her wonderful smile, however it was noticeable that milestones were not being reached and cerebral palsy was confirmed at 9 months old. It was considered that a mitochondrial disorder was the reason but after numerous hospital tests this was not confirmed. Harriet was fitted with bilateral cochlear implants aged 18 months. She loves life, school, rising her trike, walking in her walker, animals, slap stick humour. She is shining star and a beautiful inspiration to all.
