Thank youThank you for the emergency quilt, Isla loves it and it has made her day when we got home after having chemo this morning. She will certainly be taking this everywhere with her from now on. It will be a comfort when she goes in to have her kidney removed and will most certainly be on her bed every night. | |||||||||||||

BiographyOur beautiful daughter Isla just 7 has a kidney tumour. Her journey began on the evening on the 4th April 2018. “Mummy, my wee is a funny colourâ€. Isla had blood in her urine the next day we visited a gp who prescribed antibiotics for possible post streptococcal glomerulonephritis following a a virus she had the month before. The antibiotics failed to work and she was still had blood in her urine. Monday 9th (my mums 60th birthday) I called the gp to explain, he was surprised we hadn’t been sent for further tests and we were sent straight to the Horton hospital. (Missing the party) Isla had blood tests and her urine was monitored we had to stay in as her bp was high. Next day we were discharged suggesting it was a possible uti and to continue antibiotics, still waiting for tests to come back. Wednesday night a week later from first symptoms “mummy, this side of my body feels different to that side†Isla had a swelling to her left side. The next morning the dr called to say tests were normal and when I explained the lump we were sent straight back to the Horton and then very quickly to the JR for an ultrasound that confirmed a mass. We have been told it’s cancer but still awaiting results as to the extent of her tumour. has just been diagnosed with a Wilms tumour and has started chemotherapy. She is due to have her kidney removed next month and then will continue treatment with radiotherapy |
