Biography

Katie was starved of oxygen at birth and suffered severe brain damage as a result. She needed to be resuscitated and ventilated at birth. She immediately developed a complex seizure disorder. After a month in hospital she came home but has continued to have frequent visits to hospital since. She was diagnosed with severe cerebral palsy at 4 months old.

She is tube fed 20 hours a day as she is unable to swallow safely. She has severe reflux and chronic lung disease requiring oxygen at night. She suffers from chronic pain often from an undiagnosed source. She needs numerous medications administered throughout the day and night to keep her comfortable.

Katie however loves music and dancing. She is very sociable and loves being around people. She enjoys swimming and spending time with her family particularly her 2 younger siblings.
