Biography

Emily was born healthy with no complications. At 5 days old she became profoundly ill from jaundice. Consequently Emily ended up on ITU with liver failure, seizures and needed ventilating. Emily spent a month in hospital befor coming home. In the early dats Emily suffered from vomiting and needed to be tube fed.
At age 1 emily was not gaining weight and needed a gastrostomy and a nissens procedure. A week later she also had a cochlear implant to help her hearing. From age 3 Emily developed epilepsy and now requires emergency meds and oxygen.
Emily main problems now are her chest, she suffers with repeat chest infections needing lengthy stays in hospital. Her last Admission was over Christmas and new year and Emily ended up with a port-o-cath in order to get iv access.
This has enabled me to administer iv drugs at home and try and keep Emily out if hospital.
Emily will be having another operation next week to help reduce her tone to keep her more comfortable. This will Emilys 8th operation! Emily is completely tube fed as she is unable to swollow safely.
Despite all this Emily enjoys school, and has a cheeky personality!!
