Biography

Donna was born at 34 weeks gestation and like her sister placed on the at risk register. However, due to her sisters abuse, Donna was immediately placed in care with the intent of placing her with her sister (and us!) for adoption.
She was automatically tested for MELAS and her results came back positive and very high, suggesting a shorter life expectancy. Melas is neurodegenerative and life limiting with many symptoms developing as the child grows.
Donna was developmentally average until about a year ago when we noticed her vision was causing her to fall over or walk into things. She began struggling at school and is currently also being tested for ADHD.
She sees a number of consultants over a year and is now undergoing more assessments as she is struggling with school, something that has been getting noticeably worse over the last few months. As are her sisters, Donna is life limited.
She is a very active child though and loves to dance, turn somersaults and wants to be either a princess or a dog trainer when she is older!
