Biography

Cystic fibrosis is an inherited disease caused by a faulty gene. This gene controls the movement of salt and water in and out of your cells, so the lungs and digestive system become clogged with mucus, making it hard to breathe and digest food. There is currently no cure for cystic fibrosis but many treatments are available to manage it, including physiotherapy, exercise, medication and nutrition.
Mari was born on her due date and seem very healthy by the time she was six months she started having chest infections and infections and unexplained stomach problems.During that time time i took her to the doctors many times and we were finally referred for a sweat test. The CF diagnosis was a huge shock to everyone
To help keep ari lungs as healthy as we can Mari has to do up to four hours a day of nebs chest physio and exercise.
Every cough and cold results in more medication and more Nebs chest physio and exercise even if she doesn't feel like it.

Mari's diet is carefully monitored it has to high fat due to not being able to absorb fats.she has to take Creon with most of her food.

Mari enjoys Girl brigade and playing her trumpet (which also helps her lung funtion)
