Thank you all SO much for the beautiful quilt you all made for George. He was so happy when he saw it. I have turned it around on his bed so he can see all his favourite characters.

Biography

George had his first seizure at just 6 months old. It lasted for 30 minutes. He was rushed to hospital with the belief it was a febrile convulsion Little did I know that we had started on a very long and scary road. He was finally diagnosed with Dravet syndrome in aug 2010. Over time the seizures continued to come and lasted up to 2 hours at times. Numerous admissions to hospital and ICU. Ending up on a ventilator in ICU a few times as well. Just over a year ago I almost lost him when he had a cluster of unusual seizures which ended with him having respiratory arreset. He was on a ventilator for a week. That was by far the most scary time.

He is now 17, he continues to have regular seizures. Dravet syndrome causes the children to regress. So he has lost a lot of skills he had as a toddler. He can no longer count to ten, say the alphabet etc. but he still loves all the videos he would watch at a young age. He is currently in plaster due to a broken ankle. So is still a big worry. I am very proud of George for his strength and courage with all that life throws at him.
