Biography

Ella was born prematurely at 35 weeks and developed Group B Streptococcal Meningitis at birth. She was put on a ventilator and into a coma on day 2, she also had quite severe seizures and needed a high dose of anti convulsants to allow her body to fight the infection, she was really quite poorly and we were told that she may not survive and MRI scans that followed show that Ella suffered significant brain damage.
However she managed to fight the infection and started to get better. Her prognosis was not good and we were told she may not be able to walk or talk or do many things, but Ella has defied many professionals and is now a happy and very chatty little girl who loves listening to all kinds of music and audio stories, she loves swimming (especially splashing) and bouncing.
Although she still has regular seizures, and has continuous physio, OT and speech and language therapies we think Ella is doing great!
