Biography

Emma started having seizures when she was just 3 months old. She could have between 20 to over a hundred seizures per day. We were in hospital for a couple of months awaiting a diagnoses. She quickly lost her ability to swallow and had a Ng tube placed for feeding.
Emma was diagnosed with Migrating Partial Epilepsy of Infancy or MPEI for short when she was 5 months old. It is a devastating form of epilepsy as it is very difficult to control.
Emma has severe global developmental delay. She cannot hold her head and will never crawl or walk or talk. She has a visual impairment and is fed via a PEG button. She has a Bi pap ventilator and oxygen to help her breathe at night. She has recurrent chest infections and is in hospital several times a year. But despite all this she has started nursery at a school for special needs and is enjoying every minute of it, when she is there.
