Biography

When he was born he spent his first 8 months in hospital, he had a tracheostohis at 10 days old as he have choanal stenosis which is a narrowing of the upper airways. He was born completely blind and profoundly deaf and was very scared when people touched him and use to jump at the slightest vibrations. He has always been fed through a tube but had a lot of trouble with the oral gastric tube and had no nasal passage for an NG. he always vomited and was very slow to gain weight. At 6 months he had his first seizure but these days it fairly well controlled with meds. At 10 months he had a button and a fundo done which has made so much difference to him. Now he 's older he's put on lots of weight and he's getting really strong and just recently he crawled for the first time, we are so proud. At 18 months he had a cochlear implant which has opened up his world so much, he's still learning how to process all the new sounds but he loves his nursery rhymes, they make him laugh. He has regular operations every 6 weeks to widen his airways and the drs are looking at a trial decan very soon....exciting. He starts nursery in September and can't wait to meet all his new friends. We have been busy getting everyone at school to understand all about him. He is the most happy little boy with the most infectious smile ever. he love to be tickled and now he's older he loves a bath (when he was a baby he used to scream!) his favourite toy is a space blanket as it crinkles and makes him laugh.
