Biography

Dylan went straight in to the special care unit when he was born as he had the cord round his neck. That made him very distressed which caused him to have maconium aspiration so he wasn't breathing when he was born.

Once they brought him round, he was rushed to special care where he had an oxygen box placed over him, so I hadn't even had chance to hold him. He was in there for 5 days with no food. Then he steadily started to get a bit better so I could finally hold him and give him tiny amounts of milk. He still had an oxygen tube in his nose. After 2 weeks we could finally bring him home.

But whilst in hospital he was losing weight and filling his nappy as soon as he had his milk. When we got the results of the heal prick test it had to be taken 2 more times. They finally told us he had cystic fibrosis which was a big shock. At 2 months Dylan had to have an operation on his lungs to clear the maconium.

Dylan has to have physio twice a day as well as all his hospital trips and he has to take around 50 tablets a day. He is a very brave boy and just gets on with it all, even on the really bad days he still tries hard to carry on with everything and at 6 years old I think he is amazing.
