Biography

Whilst pregnant we didn't know anything was wrong with Hope except she was quite small. When I gave birth she wasn't breathing and it took 20 minutes to stabilise her - we thought as it was quite a quick labour it was just shock that had caused that. When doing the newborn check they noticed a heart murmur which they said was rather loud so had their consultant listen he agreed with the other doctor and then performed an echo (heart scan) in which we found out things weren't quite right.

We were seen 2 days later at Great Ormond Street where it was confirmed Hope has tetralogy of Fallots. Since then Hope has had 4 keyhole heart surgeries and 1 open heart surgery. Also when she was around 7months old we were told she had Alagilles syndrome which is a genetic disorder.

Normally for tetralogy of Fallots patients they can repair the problems, unfortunately Hope has severe pulmonary stenosis and pulmonary branch stenosis meaning her pulmonary arteries where they branch off into her lungs are extremely narrow so they cannot do her repair. In December 2015 we were informed there is nothing more they can do for Hope and she's been given 2-6years to live.
