BiographyLayla was diagnosed with reflux until she was 6 weeks old when we were finally referred to freeman hospital. The day she was diagnosed, Layla was in severe heart failure. She was so weak and fragile and in desperate need of help. She was admitted immediately and went to theatre 3 days later for her first open heart surgery to repair her mitral valve. This surgery failed and Layla went on to have it replaced at 6 months old (she was 10lbs in weight).
In August 2013 Layla was having near fatal episodes of loosing consciousness due to high lung pressures (pulmonary hypertension) and required a emergency septostomy this was carried out but unfortunately Layla suffered a large stroke loosing the use of the right side of her body.
In Feb 2015 Layla had her sub aortic membrane removed to help relieve pressure in that area. She is currently on the list for her Ross/Konno surgery and also to have her tonsils removed but dispite everything still smiles each day.
