BiographyKarah was born 6 days late and a heathy 8lbs. When she turned 6 months she started not feeling well all the time, spending time in hospital every couple of months. Then when she was about 18 months she started spending more time in hospital and admissions were getting longer. When she turned 2, she had a really bad episode and required an admission in ICU. We were then told she had asthma.
Things just got worse after this and she starting having really bad coughing fits which resulted in her having respiratory arrests. It could range from 1 every couple months to 6 a night. July 2013 she went for a CT scan - that's when they diagnosed bronchiectasis. In January 2014, she was admitted to hospital for some wheezing but that ended up being a very long admission requiring her to have a tracheostomy tube placed as she was having 5 respiratory arrests a night, then she had 2 cardiac arrests, one after the other. We have no diagnosis into why Karah is having these episodes and to this date she is still having them but we now have a safe airway. Hope this is enough information.
