BiographySummer Rose was born in the summer of 2015. She, as far as we knew, was a normal pregnancy and everything was fine untill she was born. They found she had a heart murmur so was admitted onto the neonatal ward. Whilst she was there, they found that her platelets were very low (thrombocytopenia) and needed 5 platelet transfusions in her first 4 weeks of life. Genetics were involved and started all sorts of different tests to find why all this was going on. We were allowed to leave hospital at 4 weeks with follow up appointments. In April 2016 Summer was admitted to hospital again for open heart surgery on an avsd & vsd but before she had this, she had more blood tests, which showed something up. The doctors got on to the genetics to see if they had any results yet and this is when she was diagnosed with Noonans Syndrome which explained alot of things. Her heart surgery was postponed for a few months untill June 2016. After then, Summer thrived and came on leaps and bounds, still having regular blood tests to check platelets and heart checks which all was looking good until January 2017 when one of her blood tests showed something unusual. Yet again we were admitted to hospital 19.01.2017 mums birthday 😕 and this is when they found little Summer Rose to have leukemia and so another journey starts.
