Biography

Ben was born by emergency C section at 36 weeks, we were already aware of his heart condition at his 21 week scan, but unfortunately more conditions were diagnosed after he was born. He's had 4 open heart surgeries to replumb his circulation, as well as eye surgery, a peg in his tummy to help feed him. This past year has been particularly tough as we found out by his consultant, after 9 chest pneumonia, that Ben has no immune system at all, and he now requires 3 weekly infusions in hospital to give him some immunity to protect him, as a small cold can cause pneumonia for Ben. He also started requiring 24 hour oxygen this year too.
