BiographyEmily-Grace was born weighing a healthy 7lb 6oz. After being unable to maintain her temperature or feed more than an oz from a bottle after being unable to breastfeed, we were discharged. Things got worse, it would take 3 hours to feed Emily-Grace a 3 oz bottle and what she did drink then was vomited back down her nose by reflux. Emily-Grace began to slow down in her weight gain and began getting recurring chest infections but all GP's and midwives said this was normal. At 3 months old after an emergency referral Emily-Grace was diagnosed with a cleft palate and failure to thrive - and had genetic screening.
Emily-Grace was diagnosed with 22q a month later, her chest infections got worse and the reflux was not controlled. It was decided that Emily-Grace had aspirated on her reflux causing scarring on her lungs. Emily-Grace has since had 16 hospital admissions for chest infections and now has IV antibiotics as well as many medications to keep her stable. During one of her longer admissions Emily-Grace was transferred to a children's hospital for a port-a-cath to make the whole IV process easier for her.
Despite everything Emily-Grace is a very happy little girl and nothing stands in her way!!
