BiographyCharlie was born 6 days late. From birth Charlie had a bad chest, would cough till he was sick. He also wasn't putting on weight, he was my first born so I didn't know how a baby was supposed to put on weight. My health visitor didn't discharge me for a long time.
She would make me keep taking him to the doctors, that when the doctors told me to take him straight to the hospital, that's where they kept him in. It was horrible, they put him on drips and oxygen. I didn't know what was going on or what was up with my new baby. Then they came in and told me they was testing him for cystic fibrosis. What was cystic fibrosis. I've never heard of it, how could my new baby have it... 10 days later Charlie was discharged from hospital and back home where he should have been. I think it was 2 weeks later and we had a appointment at the hospital to get his blood test results. The day that changed our lives, Charlie has cystic fibrosis!! We got given another appointment where we were given all Charlies meds and told how to do physio. We coped well with it so did Charlie. He has a hospital appointment every 2 months. He keeps as well as he can. 2 years ago Charlie grew a polyp up his nose it got so big it started to change the shape of his nose. He had an operation to remove it. Due to Charlies illness and catching bugs easy he had to be kept in for 2 weeks worth of antibiotics. Now Charlie has a polyp up his other nostril but they are trying to shrink it so he doesn't need another operation. Charlie is trying to keep as active as he can to keep his lungs clear and well.
