Biography

Elise was a happy baby. At 5 months old we found her in her cot having a seizure. Although thought to be a febrile convulsion, Elise went on to have many prolonged seizures (often over an hour in length), hospital stays and ambulance rides. Seizures when she was little were terrifying due to their length and nature and there were times when we thought she would not recover particularly after respiratory arrests and ICU visits. Although seizure types have changed her seizures still remain uncontrolled and at times prolonged.

Elise was diagnosed with Dravet Syndrome in 2011 after an autism diagnosis at approximately 7. She is a beautiful, happy young lady with a very strong will and zest for life. Through all the challenges her condition has presented Elise always has a smile on her face.
