Thank you so much for Frankie’s beautiful quilt! It really is amazing ! She is already putting it to use , having a nap. We really appreciate all the time and love you have all put into this quilt for Frankie. It is a precious gift.

Biography

Frankie is a lovely cheerful little girl. She has had numerous operations in her short life. She uses a Kaye walker or wheelchair to get around and is always smiling. Frankie had her first operation whilst still in the womb at 24 weeks gestation. We had to go to Belgium for open fetal surgery to repair her back in uterine.

Frankie was then born at 35 weeks by emergency C-section in Derriford hospital. At 2 days old she had a skin graft taken from her thigh to cover her back repair as the repair done in utero was quite fragile. She spent 2 weeks in hospital before coming home and then going back in hospital at 3 weeks old to have a vp shunt fitted to help the hydrocephalus. After 5 days in hospital we were then home. Since then there have been numerous appointments at hospital.

Frankie then had to go back to hospital April 2017 for a vp shunt revision as it was no longer working correctly then only 13 days later the vp shunt malfunctioned again and she had to have another revision.
