Biography

Alisha was born 3 weeks early in December and everything was going fine.

Just before she was six months old, she had her first seizure and had to go hospital where the doctor said if it happened again she will have to go on medication for it. The following week Alisha had to go hospital again because of a seizure and had to stay in hospital for the night. They started her on medication and had to go and see the consultant about her epilepsy.

She was always in and out of hospital with her seizures and they tried different medications to see what worked best for her. Alisha's development was very slow and her speech was not that good and because she was in and out of hospital with her seizures the consultant decided to do a blood test for dravet syndrome. It come back that she had the gene in 2013 and at the same time I found out she had got ASD and ADHD. I got information given to me and to go on facebook to a group which is called dravet syndrome uk and there are lots of family's on there with children with dravet syndrome and I have learnt a lot from them.

Alisha is now 9 and this year was not a good start because Alisha was very poorly in January. She had to spend 4 weeks in hospital on a drip and have a ng tube put in her noise because she wouldnt eat or drink anything, and had to be put on furtisip to help her put weight on. This week she has been in hospital on Tuesday to have a operation to have a gastrostomy put in to her stomach because of her not eating well.

It has been a rollercoaster with her and I just take each day as it comes with her and make memories with her.
