Thank you

Anna is blown away by her beautiful quilt! Excited is an understatement. Thank you so very much to everyone who contributed and gave up so much of their own time to stitch and put it together. It is humbling to know that there are such kind and generous people out there. It will be treasured forever. One very happy girl today!

Biography

Anna was born a little premature and was diagnosed with Down’s syndrome at four months old after struggling to feed and put weight on.

She had many early intervention therapies to help her develop physically and cognitively. She was diagnosed as hearing impaired at two years old and given hearing aids to wear. By the age of three she was still unable to walk and after further investigation was diagnosed with severe hyper mobility particularly in her hips, knees and ankles. She eventually mastered walking which enabled her to investigate the world a little more. Speech continues to be an area of weakness and even when backed up by basic sign language, Anna still struggles to make herself understood. Sleep is a problem due to aching joints and inefficient breathing at night meaning many restless nights. She continues to attend many hospital appointments and has a number of therapies regularly.

Despite all these challenges she is still a happy girl with a zest for life!
