Biography

Elisha has had a lot of struggles adapting to the world around her growing up because of her autism. She had just started a college course she loved and was adjusting to this life when she got very ill. Signs were tired, lethargic, exhausted, unable to get out of bed for weeks, not eating, drastic weight loss, sore throat and persistent cough.

Firstly Elisha was treated for tonsillitis. 2 weeks later the local A&E confirmed pneumonia in her lungs, then had to transfer to main hospital for medication due to age. Bloods were taken twice while in A&E queue and hours later Elisha was then shockingly diagnosed with Leukemia. We were then transferred to Bristol hospital for 2 week emergency treatments before returning to our county hospital for chemotherapy cycles. Elisha has spent many days & weeks as an in patient since diagnosis due to several complications and infections. The treatment takes 2-3 years to complete plus time if delays in regime.

Elisha cannot be left in hospital due to her autism so I have to stay with her.

I cannot begin to explain what Elisha has had to endure since treatment started but she is coping admirably given how much her autism effects all daily activities.

Elisha is an amazing girl who leaves a special impression on all those who spend time with her - especially her animals.
