Biography

Dean was born July 22 2000. From the start there were always issues, from feeding and weaning he was difficult to wean, this took may months he cried a lot as many babies do. As a toddler he was always climbing and had no awareness of danger. He could not talk, the health visitor at this point said this was due to the fact he had two elder siblings who where speaking for him, I knew this was incorrect and told her so. He then started nursery and the games truly began at that stage, Dean was excluded from nursery due to behavioral issues, the Head Teacher was very good and said we have done this so the LEA will put some input into your son, and they did. He then received one to one within the nursery setting.

Many years passed while fighting for a diagnosis for Dean, he went through many services and I even paid for a private speech and language therapist, and a private Doctor to asses Dean they both said he had issues, but the LA would not take these on board, but due to the statementing process he was seen by further doctors and , OT, SP and a clinical psychologist whom all agreed Dean had severe ASD.

Dean still attends main stream school with the help of one to one within the school environment.

Now we are fighting another battle, for taxis to and from this school and it is currently going to appeal, this has to be the case due to all the changes the current government legislation, yet another fight but thanks to IPSEA I do believe we will get there, it just might take a while.

Dean enjoys computer games, and loves all forms of animals he is also very good at science, he loves textures and anything sensory and on the whole a very happy little boy. x
