BiographyLeia was born in 2012 by c-section weighing 6lb 9oz. At 3 weeks old she was diagnosed with Cystic Fibrosis and immediately put onto daily medication and antibiotics as she was born with a cough. She had to have physio straight after diagnosis twice a day which as she grew she hated.
We ended up fundraising for a physio vest (£6999 cost) to help her. Leia had to attend hospital every couple of weeks when she was first diagnosed which was very difficult on her as this meant alot of blood tests and other tests. At 10 months old Leia was admitted to hospital for a bronchoscopy, pH study and a course of IVs. This was very traumatic for Leia and the IVs ended up being stopped on day 9 due to it causing her so much distress.
Leia has then been in and out of hospital her whole life for IVs, her most recent admittance she had a portacath fitted to try and help with IV access, this was a 3 week stay in hospital which also involved another bronchoscopy and pH study.
Leia has been so brave throughout her journey with CF and I could not be prouder of her!
