Biography

When Jack was born in 2006 everything at first appeared normal, but then he didn't pass the meconium that newborn babies do in the first few hours of being born. His stomach then became distended & he was taken from us & put into special care. Jack was found to have a blockeage in his bowel which resulted in him being transferred to St james' & having an operation at just 22 hours old.

Afterwards the surgeon came to us & told us that he thought it was highly likely that our baby had Cystic Fibrosis - to be honest I had never even heard of it before. Of course we then went home & did exactly what the doctors told us not to & researched those words 'Cystic Fibrosis' on the internet & boy were we shocked.

Jack was in hospital until he was 4 weeks old. He has had many admissions into hospital for IV antibiotics & now has a port-a-cath fitted which allows us to do his IV treatment at home when he needs it, giving us some normality when he is ill.

Jack has to take many different medication everyday, which are both oral & nebulised. He also has to have a minimum of 2 sessions of physio on his chest every single day.
