BiographyFrankie was born a healthy 9lb 3oz baby. Within 6 weeks he had numerous seizures ranging from 1 min to over 1 hour long. At 4 months old Frankie suffered a seizure causing him to be placed on life support and leaving us unsure of lasting brain damage. From the age of 8 months Frankie has suffered daily from 100s of seizures and extreme photosensitivity to daylight (he has to wear sunglasses which are patched on one eye). His photosensitivity was so bad at one point we were housebound for over 3 months with all blinds and curtains pulled just to offer a bit of relief from seizures. He was also born with only one working kidney and at the very tender age of 3 weeks he had his first operation. He has now had over 5 operations and countless procedures to try and rectify this. Frankie takes a very strong cocktail of drugs (5 anti-epileptic medicines) and he still stuffers seizures. He has been involved in a drug trial for the last year which has been very very intense and has shown yet another medical issue with his heart. This is currently being monitored by the cardiology department and he receives heart echoes regularly to ensure there is no further damage from the trial drug. Given Frankie's medical issues he remains a very happy, active little boy who loves music, dancing and generally being a mischievous little boy who we love dearly.
