Thank you

The quilt arrived today and is absolutely beautiful! Thank you so much. It is so lovely it brought a tear to my eye! It actually arrived in perfect time as unfortunately Isla needs to go back on dialysis and is going into hospital next week for an operation to have a dialysis catheter put back in. I will be sure to take a photo of Isla with the quilt in the next few days. Thanks once again,
Catherine

Biography

Isla became ill around the date of her first birthday. She had a cold and chesty cough which developed into pneumonia. Unfortunately this happened while we were visiting Isla's grandparents who live in Spain. She was taken into intensive care to be treated for the pneumonia but a few days later went into kidney failure as a result of the pneumococcal virus attacking her body. The cause of the kidney failure was an illness called haemolytic uraemic syndrome. She was initially given emergency haemodialyis which was continued on her return to the UK. She then underwent surgery to enable her to have dialysis treatment at home on a nightly basis which continued for a year.

Isla has undergone countless surgical procedures, most recently to have a gastrostomy feeding peg inserted in her stomach to help stabilise her kidney function. She has blood taken every 3 weeks at clinic appointments which she finds extremely distressing. While Isla has been able to live without dialysis for the past year, her kidney function has been steadily deteriorating to the point where she has now joined the waiting list for a kidney transplant.
