BiographyScarlett had a very difficult start to life and was deprived of oxygen during her birth. She was born not breathing and needed medical intervention to keep her alive. She was placed on a life support machine straight away and underwent cooling treatment. This lowered her body temperature for a week to try and help the brain recover from the trauma she had been through. After a week old we found that she had suffered catastrophic and irreversible brain damage, we were thrown into a world that we had no idea about.
6 years later Scarlett is thriving. She cannot roll, sit, walk or talk however, that does not stop her enjoying everything about life. She finds humour in everything, loves her music and being sung too. She has undergone quite a lot of therapy to help her and we have seen some progress. She is due for hip reconstruction surgery soon so we are grateful that she will have a nice new quilt to take with her.
Scarlett has taught us what true love is, we see miracles happen every day when she is around us and we are so incredibly proud of her amazing attitude after all she has been through.
