Biography

Lillie-Mai was diagnosed with ventriculomegaly when I was 20 weeks pregnant. I was told she wouldn't make birth and would have severe learning disabilities and was offered a termination which I refused. I was told she would need a shunt shortly after birth.
She was born with a very large head and a cleft-palate. She's been through physio/OT to help with head control and to help with walking, and uses a wheelchair now when she gets tired and can't walk. She's had surgery to repair her cleft and has to wear hearing-aids due to failing hearing tests. She had ICP monitoring recently as was suffering severe headaches and just before Christmas she had further surgery to lengthen her palate and repair another hole in her palate.
