Biography

Alanna was born 14 weeks early weighing a tiny 700grams and spent the first 31 days of her life on life support in intensive care. In total she spent 132 days in hospital before coming home on low flow oxygen and a mountain of medication. During her time in hospital Alanna overcame sespis, numerous infections, ROP, PDA closed with medication then a PFO developed, a flare on the brain and several blood transfusions.

Alanna has struggled with coming off the oxygen and suffers with regularly recurring chest infections. She was referred to Alder Hey Children's Hospital and was diagnosed with severe BPD. Alanna is still on oxygen 24/7 two years after coming home from hospital.

Alanna's conditions means she has frequent hospital appointments and stays in hospital.

Alanna started to receive day care from Brian House Childrens Hospice in April 2017. Alanna loves spending time there and getting messy in their craft room

Alanna has a Portage worker who comes once a week to help her catch up her development through play. Alanna gets excited when she sees the big bag of toys.

Alanna is a smiling caring loving little girl and just takes everything in her stride.
