Biography

When Evie was 9 weeks old she was diagnosed with a brain tumour. It was the size of an orange. We were taken up to Frenchay hospital in Bristol where she endured a 9 and a half hour operation to remove it. Evie has a brother and a sister, who at the time were aged seven and twelve and were left behind to stay with my sister. It was an awful ordeal for the whole family. Before Evie was sent to Bristol I knew something was wrong with her. The soft spot on her head was very full and her head was very large with prominent veins. I’d taken her for various checks and rang health visitor who all told me I was an over protective mother and she was perfectly fine. We stayed in Bristol for 3 weeks.
Due to the tumour Evie has been left with Epilepsy which does affect the quality of her life as her seizures are not very well controlled. She gets a lot of headaches and is very tired. She also has right-side hemiplegia and wears a splint on her leg. She has adhd and a learning disability.
Evie has a very positive attitude to life, nothing phases her and she will give everything a go. She has a very outgoing personality and loves to have a chat. School is quite a challenge and she doesn’t particularly enjoy it.
She is our little miracle.
