Biography

Lucie was born with bladder exstrophy which is where her bladder was on the outside of her stomach and really small. She was born in Victoria Hospital, Kirkcaldy and a day after she was born she was flown down to Great Ormond Street Hospital by helicopter.
Lucie had her bladder closure operation at 2 days old and was in hospital for two weeks. Lucie's urine just kept trickling out so it wasn’t diluting and kept burning her skin.
Just before Lucie's 2nd birthday she had the Kelly’s procedure to build the bladder neck. She was in hospital for about 2 weeks and came home with a catheter in. Lucie then had to go back down just before Christmas 2016 to have the catheter removed.
Lucie now wears pants during the day unless she is going a distance in the car then she needs to wear a special nappy which she has to wear at bedtimes.
