Biography

Emily was born a normal baby but within a few days of life had a respiratory arrest and needed resuscitating and was ventilated. This was due to low blood sugars as a neonate and she was eventually diagnosed with ketotic hypoglycaemia. This caused a brain injury that has left her with complex epilepsy, visual impairment, she is registered sight impaired and has global developmental delay and cerebral palsy. Her epilepsy has been a major problem in her life as she does not respond to medication, in particular rescue medication. She has ended up with prolonged seizures requiring hospital admission and on occasions induced coma to try and stop them. She is a happy young girl who is full of smiles and loves to please everybody. She enjoys horse riding with riding for the disabled, playing at shops and doll play and makes us proud of what she can achieve.
