BiographyAt my 20 week scan they found a problem with his heart. I was sent for an emergency scan the next day and was then sent to Bristol to be shown around the hospital and told I would be induced with Jayden at 37 weeks. After 5 days of labour he was born and whisked away to NICU where he remained for 4 days before being transferred to the children’s hospital.
Jayden had 2 operations within being 8 days old, his first failed and the second was a success. We were then discharged home when Jayden was 3 weeks old.
He has had regular heart check-ups since then, with a total of 13 surgeries, 4 open hearts and 9 keyhole. Each operation has had side effects on both me and Jayden. Jayden is autistic, has sensory processing disorder, separation anxiety & anxiety.
During one of his ‘episodes’ he turns blue & purple around his nose, eyes, lips and finger tips. The colour drains from his face and his oxygen levels will drop severely. Because of this he has a sats machine in his bag which is on him 24/7. We have medical plans in place with his school for emergency purposes. He also has an IEP and is in the process of doing an EHCP.
