BiographyTalia wasn't breathing when she was born for nine minutes, and had to be resuscitated. At four days old she started to have seizures. Then at two months old she was diagnosed with West Syndrome. She has had every test under the sun from lumbar punctures at two months, numerous EEGs, brain scans, chromosome, metabolism, genetic testing, to no avail, although her last MRI showed reduced white brain matter in front and temporal lobes. The brain scan showed preventicular brain cysts. Talia cannot sit, stand, talk, or walk she is double incontinent, suffers from reflux and fluxuating muscle tone. Though through all of this she is the happiest little girl in the world who never moans and lights up the room with her smile. She makes me so proud every day and it’s such an honour to be her mam. Her development is slowly starting to develop an she is starting to make good progress at her nurseries, even though her neuro never thought she would make it. I take great joy and emotional satisfaction in how she is proving everyone wrong.
