Biography

Francesca is our lovely daughter, she is 12 years old. She was diagnosed with Cystic Fibrosis through the heel prick test and sweat test. She is cared for by the amazing CF team at Royal Manchester Children's Hospital.

She kept relatively well when she was younger, thanks to her medications and physio, although she has had quite a few admissions for regular blood tests and some intense courses of IV antibiotics over the past few years, which are very challenging as she is needle phobic.

Over the last couple of years, she has suffered a lot with the gastro side of CF, feeling nauseous, being sick and missing school. She continues to undergo investigations and trialling different medications to try to bring relief.

A couple of weeks ago, Frankie started Symkevi, a new CF drug which we hope will enhance the quality and length of her life. At the moment she is dealing with the initial side effects, which we hope will settle down as her body becomes accustomed to it.

Frankie is a fighter, she tries hard not to let her CF get in the way of living life to the full. She has CF. CF does not have her. She has support from paediatric Psychology, is a great friend to many and is passionate about life.
