Erin’s pregnancy was very difficult. Lots of hospital appointments and continued scans. She was born by C-section.
From a very early age she struggled socially, meeting people, loud noises and needed routine. As she started to get older her speech stopped in front of people and she would hide and freeze if anyone called her name. At 4.5 when she started school, she said it’s not safe here, don’t leave me. Erin struggled for the next 4 years at school. Her needs became more noticeable and school couldn’t cope with her.
In year 2 we made the decision to home educate as we were worried about her mental health. One day in the car she said to me,'you are the saddest mummy I know and it’s all my fault’, that was the day we said no more. Some days when she attended school I was doing 14 trips a day, she struggled with OCD, couldn’t touch anything relating to school, physical touch and personal care was an issue (and still is). Erin would be stood in exactly the same place I left her. School couldn’t cope with her at all.
Erin is completely isolated, she is unable to speak to anyone apart from her brothers and parents. Her needs are so complex at the moment that she gets discharged from professionals as they don’t know what to do. We have been to two tribunals and are still fighting.
Erin loves animals, drawing, KPOP groups and Anime. She is an amazing girl, we just wish others could see it.
