BiographyEdward was born 11 days late, but weighed a huge 15lb 9oz. After his birth he dropped a significant amount of weight very rapidly. He was admitted to the SCBU and was found to have very low platelets. Drs didn't know why and Edward underwent many tests to try and find the reason. Edward became a very sick baby very quickly. He was failing to thrive, had high infection markers.
He was in SCBU for 3 weeks. During this time we found he had a hole in his heart.
We were seen at Glenfield where they found more heart complications which needed surgery. Edward has had 2 operations to sort out his congenital heart defects.
During his first year, Edward found it difficult to put weight on, and had very significant global development delays.
Over the years he has struggled with managing his emptiness, complex behaviours and possibly ASD. Each day is a challenge for Edward, but he always tries his hardest and is a a very determined boy! He has an awesome sense of humour, is wildly cheeky and knows a lot about a huge variety of subjects... his favourite being anything to do with emergency services, the army, special forces and anything to do with being outdoors. He has many challenges to face and will always need support, but has family to work alongside him to achieve his best.
