Biography

Kaston was diagnosed in July 2020 after I discovered some pin prick rash / bruises and after he had a blood test at our local hospital in Cornwall.

Never did I expect to be told my son has leukaemia and all I kept saying was no. Then it hit me that I may lose my son and I kept saying, 'He won’t die will he? I can’t lose him.'

We were admitted to Bristol the same day to start induction of intense chemotherapy and after a month we came home back to Cornwall to carry on frontline treatment. He started maintenance in March 2021 and is in hospital once a month for vincristine and steroids and dexamethazone and bloods, every 12 weeks for a lumbar puncture, and weekly bloods.

There have been so many ups and downs but Kaston takes it all in his stride and is such an inspiration of strength. All his nurses love him and say he is a pleasure to treat.

We are in maintenance now and his treatment will be ongoing till October 2023 and then he won’t be classed as in remission till 5 years after his last chemo medication.

Kaston is so full of life and won’t let cancer stand in his way and even on his bad days he is looking to be “ normal “
Well done Kaston.

Fingers crossed he keeps getting stronger as he keeps me going.

He loves
Yoda
Power rangers
Super heroes
Nerf guns
Football
Lego.
He is your typical boy

Thank you so much for his blanket
