BiographyDarla was born healthy although became stuck during birth needing an x-ray when born. She was smiling at 6 weeks but didn't meet any other milestones. She joined the genetics project in London but as to date nothing is showing. She had an MRI just before her first birthday which came back clear apart from a cyst on the brain which she has to have scanned yearly to keep an eye on the size.|She has also gone through lumbar punctures.
Darla is unable to sit, roll, stand or walk without equipment, she is unable to hold heavy things in her hands with not much coordination. She relies on adults for both care and mobility needs. She is unwell a lot due to neutropenia. She also had head lag but over the years she is able to control her head, just having a couple of wobbles here and there. She is registered blind due to very poor sight. She has low muscle tone in both upper and lower limbs and poor trunk control. The low tone and elasticity in her legs is meaning she is having trouble with her knee dislocating, we are waiting to see a surgeon from London. She is also non-verbal and can only eat pureed food. She has sensory processing disorder too which is to sound, touching hard things and being around too many people.
With all her challenges she is a very happy and content little girl who loves being at school and is very happy at home too.
