BiographyPaisley was a happy baby. I did notice he had a slightly larger head, but the health visitor said it was ok. At the age of 2 and a half Paisley was rushed into hospital with gastroenteritis. The doctor who looked after him noticed the pigmentation patches and informed me that it could be a few things. At the age 4 Paisley and his dad were both diagnosed with NF1.
Around this time Paisley's older brother was having a bath with him when he shouted that Paisley has lost a hip. This was the 1st sign of the problems with his back. With Paisley's illness and all the hospital appointments, his dad couldn't cope and we ending splitting.
With the help and support from my partner we have got Paisley through 6 years of back surgery. He goes in to hospital every 6 months to have adjustments. In the six years Paisley has broken 2 rods and a screw, as well as popped a rod. And he has overcome a massive infection. He had to have emergency surgery to clean the wound out, then 2 weeks of iv antibiotics in hospital. And then 3 months of antibiotics. Paisley had final fusion in September 2020. So no more surgery.
He's been through all of this and having to cope with everything. But when you look at him he always has a smile and has a passion for life.
