Biography

Charlie was born a healthy boy and as he grew he was fine. At about 3 he complained of leg pain. We would regularly visit the doctor who told me that he has growing pains. However he got so bad that I took him to my local hospital who diagnosed Charlie with Perthes disease.

Shortly he ended up in a wheelchair due to falling. Before his operation he would fall when running and couldn’t get up again. He had no quality of life with the pain he was in. It is a condition where the hip bone dies and the bone crumbles because the blood supply cuts off from the hip itself. Charlie has had an operation where he had his bone taken apart and fitted into position and metal work screwed in to keep it in place. He has regular check ups but we have been told it can happen again so more operations along the way.

From 17 months old he has had recurring croup. He has had a camera and tissue taken away previously and he is undergoing another chest camera and scope and treatment for this .
