BiographySophie was diagnosed with Down Syndrome at birth but was fairly healthy at first. At only 5 months old she started having seizures which caused a developmental regression. At 18 months old she became acutely unwell and was transferred in an intensive care ambulance to Great Ormond Street Hospital. She spent 5 months there and in that time she had a respiratory arrest and had to be resuscitated. She also had a major operation to reconstruct her airway. |
