Katie's quilt arrived today (9.10.13) and its beautiful. As soon as she got home from school I got her pyjamas on so she could snuggle up and relax as it was such a cold miserable day.

I would like to thank Gaynor for all of her help and each lady that makes the squares and sews the quilts, they are amazing ;)

Biography

Katie is 6 yrs old and she's lived with me and her grandad since she was 2. We're her legal guardians. She was diagnosed with Aicardi syndrome at 2 weeks old. She also has cerebral palsy. Scoliosis. Epilepsy. Left micro opthalmia. Hip dysplasia. She is blind in her left eye. Non verbal. Non mobile. Developmental delays. She had her 1st spinal surgery, hip and hernia surgeries before she was a year old.

She is currently waiting for her 2nd spinal surgery. She spends a lot of time in hospital. Nov 2012 intensive care with pneumonia and tonsilitis.

March 2013 she was rushed into hospital 2 days before her 6th birthday with a chest infection and was in for almost 4 weeks then back in intensive care in June with silent pneumonia. About to start the ketogenic diet to help control her daily seizures. She loves music and lights. Her fave is Michael Buble. Her colours are pink and purple for Aicardi syndrome awareness.

Her bedroom is full of angels, fairies and butterflies. She is beautiful and our world.
