Biography

I went for a scan at 20 weeks where they saw his bowel was distended but they couldn't tell what had caused it. When he was born 5 weeks early, he was quickly rushed into a 6 hour exploratory surgery which found his small intestine had twisted while he was growing, gone necrotic and died. There was a gap in his bowel and instead of the 200cm of intestine a baby should have, he had 20cm. He had a stoma bag and a fistula fitted to help develop his bowel before they could operate again and reconnect the two ends.

At 2 months, he had a Hickman line fitted which goes into his heart through a vein and through it, receives TPN for 12 hours a day because he can't absorb the nutrition from the foods he eats, but the plan is to slowly wean him off this if his bowel can handle it.

So far, he's had 5 surgeries, blood transfusions, iron transfusions and spent 6 months in the hospital but you wouldn't know it. He's loud and funny and a menace when he wants to be. He's thriving despite the tubes and hospital visits.
