BiographyLogan was born in 2011. He was a healthy and happy baby. At 12 months old Logan was able to sit up and by 14 months he was walking. We noticed that Logan fell very often and when he did, he wouldn’t be able to stand back up by himself. The health visitor referred us to our local paediatrician who noticed that Logan had larger calf muscles and wanted to get some blood work done.
On the 3rd September a few weeks before Logan’s 3rd birthday I received a phone call to say that Logan had a condition called Duchenne Muscular Dystrophy. I was told not to Google this condition and wait for an appointment to see a specialist. Of course the first thing I did was to google a disease I had never even heard of. I was devastated and completely heartbroken, my baby boy had a life limiting disease.
Logan is now nearly 13 and has been through so much already. He lost the ability to walk when he was 9 years old and is now slowly losing arm function. It’s extremely hard to watch him struggle with tasks we all take for granted. Earlier this year Logan spent 8 weeks in hospital for a perforated bowel and so many complications like sepsis and kidney failure to name a few. Logan fought it all, he is the strongest boy that I know. He always has a smile on his face and he truly is my hero.
I know that Logan’s life is going to be cut extremely short and I can’t imagine living in a world where he doesn’t. We cherish every moment and I’m so unbelievably proud to be his mom. Love you Logan!
