Biography

Starlea was born at 30 weeks gestation, and at 5 days old, through a routine head scan, was diagnosed with significant Periventricular Leucomalacia, resulting in Spastic Quadriplegic Cerebral Palsy with underlying low tone amongst other diagnosis. Star is unable to sit/talk/walk/crawl and is totally dependent on others for all her care and mobility needs.

In the past year, Star has spent much of her time in and out of hospital for operations and through illness. In May this year she had the Nissens Fundoplication, PEG, adenoid removal and grommets inserted. Eleven days ago she underwent an adductor psos and proximal hamstring release in both legs and is currently in a spica cast.
Star is now predominantly PEG fed due to weight loss and dysphasia and is on a range of daily medications.

Starlea is a beautiful little girl, full of character and determination. She is a very intelligent little girl, and although is unable to communicate verbally, is very expressive in her facial expressions and sounds.
