BiographyRiver was born not breathing as a result he suffered severe brain damage(hypoxic ischemic encephalopathy). He then went on to develope Quadriplegic cerebral palsy, laryngomalacia and neurological gut disfunction. River has seizures at birth but by 1years old he was having multiple types of epileptic seizures and was diagnosed with lennox-Gastaut syndrome. We have failed all front line medications, ketogenic and cannabis oil. He also has cortical vision impairment and hard of hearing. River did feed orally but when his seizures took hold at 1yr he stopped and has been peg fed since.
We are frequently in hospital with Rivers chest and bowels and his condition has deteriorated in the past year. We are currently on the critical care unit and have been for the past 4 weeks. He has battled infection in his bladder, stomach and chest. He's had 2 collasped lungs and was intubated. He recovered from that and was extubated but he now has pneumonia again.
River doesn't hold his temperature well so we get through alot of blankets!
