BiographyJake was born at 27 weeks weighing in at a tiny 14oz! We were given no chance of survival, but we watched on as he battled hard. His tiny weight and size was a massive indication that things weren't quite the 'norm' with Jake. He is a child that has battled hard from that very first day, and every time we have an appointment, there's a new investigation, issue or diagnosis we are hit with, yet he smiles through it all.
Jake has Congenital Heart Disease, for which he has had 2 surgeries for, both with further complications. He suffers with Chronic Lung Disease, which has placed him in ICU on numerous occasions. Proportionate short stature making people treat him like a baby, Cerebral Visual Impairment of his dorsal stream, Hearing loss of both ears, Septic arthritis with limb shortening this was due to an infection caught whilst a neonate, early onset osteoarthritis, as a result of the septic arthritis damage, Global Developmental Delay.
He is a happy boy who loves nothing more than time with his 2 younger brothers and baby sister - and of course his fire engines!
